DIKGAFELA
Dikgafela is a ceremony that is conducted to thank the divinity for fruitful harvest. The festival is meant to appease the heavens to release the rains. Reed baskets are filled with all imaginable crops & traditional beer in clay pots are brought to Kgosi and his royal aid by women carrying moologa branches, and ritualistic requests are made of Kgosi to ask for the rain. Dikgafela celebrations marks the highlights of the people's happiness according to our culture. The ceremony is originally celebrated around September as it is the time when farmers had to harvest.
